The Hughes Brothers Show puts the "Family" in the Family show.

The Hughes Brothers featuring Kristina MarieAll of the shows in Branson make a claim to being good family shows, but the Hughes Brothers are a real family presented by a real family of five brothers, four wives, six children, grandma and grandpa, and at times, even the dog. If Princess, the dog, happens to escape from a backstage dressing room during the show, she may be found lined up right next to the brothers contributing her own style of musical howling to the sweet acappella strains of "Shenandoah".

The Hughes Brothers grew up in the Rocky Mountains but now make their home in the Ozark Mountains. Why did they move here?

"Everywhere they performed people said we belonged in Branson" said Lena Hughes (their mom and manager).

So, in the spring of 1995, the Hughes Brothers, their wives, children and even Mom and Dad moved there. The Hughes Brothers Show was recently awarded the "Branson Tradition Award" for being the show that best illustrates the family values Branson stands for.

"The kind of people that come to Branson want to see entertainment that won't embarrass or offend them," Lena said. "They are mostly people who uphold Christian values of family, country and God. We always taught our children that they had been blessed with talents that should be used to bless other people. We have deliberately designed our Branson show with family values in mind and have a goal that people might be touched in more ways than just being entertained".

The Hughes Brothers featuring Little Miss Kristina Marie.Yet people are definitely entertained. The Hughes Brothers produce an electricity that certainly sparks their audiences. They are young and energetic, ranging in age from 31 to 21. The brothers are each multi-talented and they perform with equal finesse many styles of music ranging from country to gospel to Broadway.

Just as the audience is being blown away with all the talent and versatility of the brothers, out come their wives, who also sing, dance and play instrument. Even Marty's six-year-old daughter, Kristina Marie, sings, dances and yodels her way into everyone's hearts with her renditions of songs like "I Want To Be A Cowboy Sweetheart" and "I Am A Child Of God."

The Hughes Brothers' Show is one of the fastest growing shows in Branson but the family is pretty humble about their success.

"We are blessed," Lena said. "It's very difficult to get a show going in Branson. There's a great deal of competition. But despite all the odds, people keep coming back to our show and bring even more people with them. When audience members tell us that they enjoyed our show as much as any of the big shows, I know that we impress our audiences in a different way. It's like a recent attendee said, 'You don't just see this show, you feel it.'"
