Tourism
Council
The Tourism
Council efforts concentrate on telling the Randolph
County story in order to encourage more visitors,
tourists and convention business.
The Chamber promotes events, programs and seminars by
radio, newspaper and television using a calendar of
events and other media releases. Each week the Chamber is
given 5 minutes on KWIX Radio (1230 AM). This same
information is carried by the commuity's daily newspaper
each week as "Chamber Newz".
Information is then picked up by the local cable company,
as well as being provided to other media companies.
Coverage on television is provided by stations in
Columbia and Jefferson City.
The Chamber has created a new item to promote Moberly and
Randolph County, This item is called the Moberly Mailer.
The mailer itself is a well designed mailing evelope
depicting Moberly with multiple pictures. Inside the
envelope are 15 informational pages starting with a
Welcome Page. This Welcome page gives just a hint of
Moberly and then lures them into the other informational
pages that follow. These pages are created in the
Chamber office allowing changes and additions to be made
as they are needed. Previously the Chamber had used a
booklet, however with the information changing so often,
the Chamber felt that it could create an informational
piece that would be well received yet still lend to the
ease of changes as needed. If you would like to recieve
one of our Moberly Mailers with information, please
contact the Chamber office.
Missouri
Community Betterment
Moberly has
for many years participated in the Missouri Community
Betterment allowing Judges to take a tour of our
community to compare with other communities that are
equal in size.
In September
of 2006, the judges were back to tour Moberly, results of
the judging are presented at an Annual Dinner Meeting
held in October in Columbia, Missouri. This October 23rd,
a group of four from Moberly attended this Dinner and
Moberly was awarded 2nd Place in the 5th Category. The
plaque is now available to be viewed at the Moberly City
Hall.
